Suicide prevention charity co-founder Patricia Kelly charged with money laundering

One of the founders of the suicide prevention charity Console has been charged with money laundering and two counts of fraudulent trading.

Patricia Kelly, with an address in Kildare, appeared before the Dublin District Court this morning.

Ms Kelly set up the charity with her late husband Paul. He was found dead at their home in Clane last month.

The charity was shut down in 2016.

The court was told that Ms Kelly has charged been charged with two counts of fraudulent trading and one count of money laundering on foot of an investigation by the Office of the Director of Corporate Enforcement (ODCE).

The DPP has directed that she be sent forward for trial in the Circuit Court.

She was remanded on bail to appear again on the April 17th when the book of evidence is due to be served.
